Printer-friendly versionSend by email

Based on the SPIN partnership, and with financial support from the national metrology institute PTB in Germany, an all over Africa round robin on the testing of cement was set up for the very first time. Round robins are benchmarks between laboratories.

24 partner laboratories, 22 of which from Africa, participate in this proficiency testing scheme, which comprises the chemical analysis of cement and the respective performance in mechanical testing.

Private and public laboratories from Uganda, Ghana, Congo, Namibia, Algeria, Kenya, Mauritius, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Senegal participate in the testing scheme, thus, enlarging the SPIN group significantly.

The kick-off workshop takes place in conjunction with a SPIN technical meeting and Master- and PhD student courses in Dar Es Salaam from July 1 to July 6, 2012.
