Homegardens for improved livelihoods

Printer-friendly versionSend to friend

I would like to develop and promote horticultural crops-based homegardens for improved food and nutritional security of small scale farmers in Amhara region, Ethiopia. A participatory action research is required that encompasses the whole spectrum of constraint identification to technology development and supply as well as instill skills to growers on technological itineraries and propagation techniques. I need anyone interested to jointly investigate this exciting undertaking. Fentahun fentahunmen@yahoo.com

I am in Ghana, West Africa. I am currently on Sabbatical leave with College of Agriculture Education, University of Education, Winneba. I am interested in your project and would like to be a partner

We have been involved for home garden research for 15 years. One of the major work carried out was to review a home garden project funded by DFID. We also had home garden projects in South Africa, specially for crop improvement and cropping systems funded by OST, UK and many overseas students who carried Ph.D projects on home gardens/ agroforestry at our centre. We would be interested to be a partner if you think we have the expertise.

Dear Haq,
Thank you very much for your response and interest. It is such people/ organizations of excellent expertise we need. I, and the Amhara Regional Agricultural Research Institute/ Adet Research Center for which I am working, conduct development-oriented agricultural research. We thought home gardens would be one major avenue to ensure food and nutritional security. This is why we wanted to find a partner and apply for a fund. Thanking you again, I will communicate with you soon by e-mail.
Best regards
