Dear Sir/Madam

Hope you are fine and doing well. I am writing to apply for financial assistance from the ACP-EU co-operation programme in the field of science and technology. My name is Mrs. Bontu Fekede Tefera from the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Promotional Behavioral Sciences from the Jimma University of Ethiopia. Since my graduation in 2006 I have been working as a Social Mobilization Expert responsible for mainstreaming HIV and AIDs, prevention Care and Support for the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. I have got a conditional offer to pursue a postgraduate course of Master of Public Health at Sheffield University England. I kindly request assistance from your esteemed organization to provide me a scholarship so that help my dream will come true. The course of master of public health that I have got at Sheffield University will allow me to fulfill my ambition of becoming more skilled. It will also help me to contribute my part to my country’s effort to roll back the effect of the pandemic and other health threats. I am dedicated to the betterment of the health status of the communities of my region and Ethiopia at large. My communities are of great importance to me. After finishing my studies I will get back to Ethiopia to help communities I have worked for and with during the last 4 years. I am sure the knowledge and skills I will acquire from the course I am going to take will assist my country to achieve its goals of improving the health status of every citizen of Ethiopia.

I would appreciate if you consider me for a Scholarship from the ACP-EU co-operation programme in the field of science and technology. My region and indeed my country of Ethiopia would also appreciate your assistance to me to fulfill my goals and aspirations. I am applying for Sponsorship because I live in a ‘Third World’ country, and my present income cannot meet the financial requirements (tuition fees, living, and other expenses) related to the course at Sheffield University. My current salary is Birr 1636, which is 19,632 per annum (Ethiopian currency), which is approximately $1227 (USD); and for the duration of the program, I will not receive any salaries from my employer. In addition to this, I have several dependants whose daily sustenance is part of my responsibility. These include my 11 month daughter, my jobless student husband, my aged parents and other close family members. Although my present employer supports this application by allowing me to participate in the programme if the scholarship on course is available, however, my employer will not be willing to make any financial commitment towards it. Moreover, there are no other sources of funding available for me. Therefore, applying for the Scholarship remains the only means of participating in the proposed study, which stands to benefit me in particular and my country in general. I am trying my best to get Scholarship but till now I could not get any agency/organization/ individual who can sponsor me. So please I do not have to miss this big life changing opportunity do not stop assisting me until I get my self in Sheffield University. If you require more information do not hesitate to contact me on my phone number or e-mail (above). I am waiting forward to hear from you in anticipation

ACP S&T is not a sponsorship programme

Dear Ms. Fekede,

Thank you for your interest in the ACP S&T Programme.
The programme is not directed to individuals but to institutions/organisations working in the area of Science and Technology in the ACP regions, so unfortunately you are not eligible to apply individually as a student.

Higher education courses and scholarships are available under other European programmes like the Erasmus Mundus.

With best regards,
The ACP S&T Programme Management Unit
